Open Date carries an extensive range of T-O-P (Tick-O-Pres) and style one body patterns ranging from 1.5 mm (6 pt) to 6 mm (24 pt) suitable for most date and batch coding and price marking requirements.
Characters and fitters are hardened steel, which offer very good print clarity and durability, particularly when compared to brass and light alloy materials. Special type faces (fonts), printing dies, and type fitters can also be made to order.
Pricing of type is dependent upon quantity ordered, with price breaks for 1-9 through 1,000 or more characters. Fitters are priced according to the number of characters (e.g. USE BY fitter is classed as 5 characters). Type characters can be ordered individually or in sets.
Special Orders
In addition to the standard type, we also produce a number of special items to benefit particular customers. These include:
- Type holders to allow our printers to utilize the popular “Norwood” style type
- Special type holders to fit Norwood printers, allowing these customers to get the benefits of the Open Date type system without having to purchase new printers
- Additional special type holders to fit Allen, Markem, and Gottscho printers, again allowing users of these systems to simplify their set up procedures
- Special fonts for the pharmaceutical companies using OCR typefaces, to allow for successful integration of on-line vision systems
Close Pitch Type System
This type system was developed for applications where the spacing of the lines using T-O-P type holder is too wide. The close pitch type characters are engraved on an “L” shaped body and are loaded into a special type chase. The spacing between the lines of print can be as close as 1.0 mm.
Close pitch type characters and type holders are available as special order items. Normally the font size is 1.5 mm (6 pt) or 2 mm (8 pt), but other sizes can be made to order.
Special Fonts
Open Date can also supply special OCR style type for our customers in the pharmaceutical industry and other industries with applications where the print needs to be verified by on-line vision systems. This is available to order in OCR-A and B styles in various sizes.
Type Accessories
In addition to our extensive stock of characters and fitters, we carry type clips, locks, and brass spacers in sizes 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, and 4 mm, extractor tools, tweezers, and multi-compartmental type trays for the safe keeping of all your type characters.
